Doctor Gaines (it’s a pen-name, not a title) is the author of the pulp science fiction thriller, THE SHOT and a number of short stories. He is a contributing writer to Vinyl Me, Please, and will be making his directorial debut in 2016 with the short film Cordial Kill, a dark comedy period piece involving mob men in the 1980's.
Doctor was born in Lincoln NE, spent his formative years in Albuquerque NM, and now lives in Denver CO. His passion for The Alan Parsons Project is rivaled by none amongst people his age.
Doctor is interested in realistically flawed and desperate characters, and in fiction that explores the human tendency to self-destruct. His primary influences are Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, John Steinbeck, Bret Easton Ellis, Paul Thomas Anderson and Lee Hardcastle.
